YOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Hobart
Welcome to Tasmania! Upon arrival at Hobart Airport, make your own way to RACV Hobart Hotel (or similar) located in the heart of Hobart’s cultural city centre. Check-in is available after 2pm. The remainder of the day is at your own leisure to explore the city and its surrounding waterfront including Constitution Dock, the destination of the annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race.

Day 2: Wineglass Bay, Freycinet National Park (B)
Explore the stunning beauty of Freycinet National Park, one of Tasmania’s first National Parks. Pink granite mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white sandy beaches, local wildlife and walking trails. Walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, a moderate 1.3km uphill walk of around 45 minutes, one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania. Once at the top be rewarded with that world-famous breathtaking view of Wineglass Bay. After several hours at Freycinet National Park re-group ready to begin the trip to one of Australia’s oldest cities – Launceston. Finish the afternoon with a tasting from one of the island’s family-run whiskey makers.

Over the next 2 nights, relax at Tamar Valley Resort (or similar) – a quaint retreat nestled in a Swiss-style village north of Launceston with vast expanses of grassy lakes and beautiful views of Tamar Valley.

Day 3: Cradle Mountain, Dove Lake (B, D)
Travel deep into the pristine Tasmanian forest, and experience a remote wilderness of waterfalls, glacial lakes, rainforest and wildlife on this day trip to breathtaking Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Inside the UNESCO World Heritage–listed park, take walks through the forest and admire views of the craggy peak of Cradle Mountain towering above the tranquil reflective waters of Dove Lake. Enjoy the company of your Tour Director and fellow travellers this evening at a Welcome Reception and dinner.

Day 4: Richmond, Mt Wellington (B)
Enjoy a visit to Richmond, a picture-perfect town that tells the story of an early Australian colonial village. Take a stroll down the pretty nineteenth century streets and see the town’s most photographed landmark, the Richmond Bridge. Stop by a local boutique cheese maker to sample some delicious award-winning Tasmanian cheeses. Next travel by Hobart’s waterfront to the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Rising 1270 metres above sea level, experience spectacular views over Hobart and southern Tasmania. You’ll have time to visit the observation shelter and take in panoramic views from the lookouts.

Over the next 3 nights, stay at RACV Hobart Hotel (or similar) in the heart of Hobart’s cultural city centre.

Day 5: Port Arthur, Tasman Peninsula (B)
Learn about Tasmania’s convict history while exploring the Port Arthur Historic Site today, taking a cruise around the Isle of the Dead and a fascinating guided walk of the remains of Port Arthur’s infamous convict prison. There will be time for you to wander the site at your leisure. On the drive from Hobart, admire the coastal scenery that highlights the natural beauty of the Tasman Peninsula, see the amazing natural rock formations of the Blowhole, Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen.

Day 6: Peppermint Bay Lunch Cruise (B, L)
Indulge in a relaxing and beautiful Peppermint Bay Lunch Cruise. This return cruise on-board a catamaran is a great way to experience the city’s harbour, beachside towns and wildlife on route to the Peppermint Bay Hotel. Arriving at Peppermint Bay, take a short stroll to the restaurant to enjoy the chefs set menu based on seasonal produce from its garden and of course local producers, whilst you soak up the views over the d’Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island.

Day 7: Salamanca Market, Depart Hobart (B)
After one final breakfast, flight time permitting, opt for a highly recommended self-guided visit to Salamanca Market (held every Saturday, from 8.30am to 3pm), one of Australia’s most vibrant and loved outdoor markets. Delight your senses with the sights, sounds and flavours illuminating from the vast array of market stalls and meet the friendly locals who make or grow what they sell. Bid farewell to Tassie when your holiday comes to an end and make your own way to the airport.

FITNESS REQUIREMENTS

You will be required to move about unassisted, including boarding and alighting vehicles, ascending and descending stairs, walking on uneven or steep terrain, and handling your own luggage. This tour is not suitable for guests requiring mobility scooters and wheelchairs.
