Day 1: Arrive Ho Chi Minh City
Welcome to Vietnam! Be greeted on arrival and driven to your hotel in the city center for check-in from 14.00. Take the time to check-in and relax for the rest of the day; the hotel has a rooftop swimming pool.

Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels and Ho Chi Minh Walking Tour (B, D)
Depart Ho Chi Minh and head to Cu Chi Tunnels this morning. Visit a family producing rice paper, an essential ingredient of Vietnamese cuisine and exchange a few stories with locals. Then explore the Cu Chi Tunnel complex, including time in the maze of tunnels to see how the Viet Cong survived in this underground network. You will return Saigon afterwards.
For lunch, enjoy free time at Ben Thanh street food market. Your Hanoi guide will remain around to help and guide you if necessary.
In the afternoon, take a gentle orientation walk to discover some of the major colonial landmarks giving historical character to modern Hi Chi Minh. Visit Independence Palace, the former residence of the President of South Vietnam with the “War Room”, where the South Vietnamese forces were controlled.
In the late afternoon, join your tour guide and walk to a nearby restaurant. Our welcome dinner is the opportunity to get better acquainted and dive further into the city’s lively food scene.

Day 3: Mekong Delta Day Tour (B, L)
Depart the hotel at 8am to reach a less travelled region of the mighty delta, about 30 kms away from the mouth of the river. Cruise on a private boat, meeting locals; learn about their daily lives and navigate the Mekong. After visiting a local factory and an ancient communal house, reach a small island for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit a honey-bee farm before hoping on bikes and cycling narrow pathways across the island, past farms and orchards. Then, transfer onto a small sampan to explore a thick mangrove before returning to the mainland. We arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Ho Chi Minh City – Hoi An (B)
Enjoy leisure time in the morning for a transfer and flight to Danang. Be greeted by your friendly local crew and driven to nearby Hoi An. Check-in at a comfortable hotel located right in the old quarter with its narrow lively streets illuminated by thousands of lanterns.

Day 5: Hoi An Walking Orientation and Food Tasting (B, L)
Follow your guide as you meander your way through the beautiful streets and narrow alleys of ancient Hoi An, which are bordered by ancient yellow-walled houses. Spend time exploring the colourful stalls and the variety of foods and souvenirs on offer at the wonderful local market. Try local delicacies and wander further into town. The guide will point out places of interest and arrange spontaneous food tastings as you walk. Food, drinks and culinary legends are all on the menu today. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 6: Hoi An at leisure (B)
A full day at leisure to enjoy the excellent shopping in Hoi An town, or to go to the beach. We recommend An Bang beach, located about 4-kilometres North of Hoi An. Or, if you prefer taking a joined-group hands-on culinary experience, then go for our exciting cooking class (not included).
Optional half-day tour: Hoi An, farming, cooking and cruising (lunch included)
Set off on a day tour to Cam Thanh rural life. Cycle through picturesque villages, passing rice paddies, local orchards and seeing the locals at work in the fields. Arrive an organic farm, where you will be welcomed by local farmers who happily share their story about this community-based project. Following an interesting conversation, you’ll be invited to join in their daily works, such as applying organic manure, making organic pesticides to control and prevent pests, cultivate the soil for planting and watering. On completion of the gardening, you will return to the farmers’ house and use the products harvested from the organic vegetable garden to cook a Vietnamese lunch. Enjoy lunch with the dishes you’ve cooked at a garden-setting table (weather permitting).
In the afternoon, take a short cycle to visit a bamboo studio and village pier, to board a traditional boat to Thuan Tinh island where we change to basket boats – a unique of way of locals to have a closer look to ecosystem of mangrove forest and daily work of the village fisherman. Then cruise along Thu Bon river back to the town centre – enjoy the view of ancient architecture from water level before transferring back to your hotel.

Day 7: Hoi An – Danang – Hanoi (B)
Enjoy a relaxing morning at leisure, then transfer to Danang’s airport. Fly to Hanoi, to be greeted and escorted to your hotel located in the old ’36 Street’ quarter. The rest of the day is free to head out and walk around the liveliest area in the capital.

Day 8: Hanoi, Half-Day City Tour (B)
In the morning we set off with your local guide on a sightseeing walk to the iconic sights of Hanoi, including charming local Chau Long market, Truc Bach Lake, beautiful Phan Dinh Phung Avenue with its large sidewalk and ancient colonial villas, and the exterior of the ancient citadel. The walk takes passes in front of the imposing Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and on Hung Vuong Street to the Temple of Literature. Explore this beautiful temple, built in 1070 as the first university of Vietnam to train and educate the future Mandarins of the Emperors. We drive you back to the hotel afterwards to spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace.

Day 9: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B, L, D)
Be transferred this morning for your departure to Halong Bay and your joined-group cruise. Drive across the Red River delta, then embark on a beautifully crafted wooden junk for an overnight cruise in the legendary seascape of Halong Bay. Once on board, be served delicious lunch while cruising between the iconic limestone cliffs, reaching a less traveled area for relaxation, sunbathing, and cave exploration. The program is not fixed and depends on the time of the year and weather. End the day on the deck while the sun sets. It is time for an aperitif or to attend a cooking demonstration before dinner. Overnight in a comfortable private cabin with attached bathroom.
Note: Cruise itinerary and schedule are subject to change due to weather, tide levels and operating conditions. Swimming or kayaking excursions may be cancelled due to poor weather.

Day 10: Halong Bay – Hanoi (Brunch)
Get up early to catch the early Tai Chi session or peaceful sunrise, with coffee and tea served. Then hop on a rowed sampan to visit a secluded floating village, one of the last remaining communities living on the bay. Brunch is served on the cruise back to the dock. After the drive back to Hanoi, the rest of the day is at leisure.

CHILD POLICY
Children under 10 years old are not permitted to join the tour. There is no discount for children travelling.

LOW DEPOSIT
An initial deposit from $299 per person is required to secure your booking.

PAYMENTS
A second deposit from $1300 per person is required 6 months before departure.
The final balance will be due 4 months before departure.

BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE
If you are unable to travel due to government restrictions or supplier cancellations, we will waive our administration fees and assist with a date change, credit or refund less any unrecoverable third-party costs. Credits are subject to supplier conditions and fare differences may apply upon rebooking.

AMENDMENT FEES
Each amendment incurs a $55 per person administration fee.

CANCELLATION FEES
Cancellation after initial deposit: $150 per person administration fee.
Cancellation after second deposit: $300 per person administration fee.

BAGGAGE POLICY
Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on tour, regardless of any other baggage allowance.
Porter service is not included and you are expected to carry your own bags.
Luggage and personal effects are your own risk and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

VISAS
Tourist visas are required for Australian and most other nationalities travelling to Vietnam. It is your responsibility to check directly with your embassy or visa centre for the latest information regarding Tourist Visas

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS
It is the customer’s responsibility to check the country of departure and country of arrival’s COVID-19 restrictions. Third party supplier partners (e.g. airlines, cruise lines, accommodation, tour operators etc) may also have additional restrictions. It is the customer’s responsibility to check that all travellers in your party also meet all requirements. The situation is fluid and as such country and state entry requirements, along with third party supplier requirements, are changing frequently. All travellers must comply with their final destination’s immigration and health requirements.

VACCINATIONS
It is your responsibility to check all requirements with your local consulate, embassy or visa centre for the latest information regarding vaccination requirements. Should any mandatory quarantine or testing be required, this will be at your own expense and for you to arrange. Please be advised that any costs for these requirements will be at your own expense. Our consultants are not qualified to advise you on vaccinations. Please contact your doctor or a specialist vaccination clinic for advice.

DOCUMENTATION
Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure of the respective travel component.

ITINERARY
The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed necessary for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation of the tour.
If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, similar alternatives will be provided where possible.
Included admissions provide general entrance to the attraction and do not include secondary admissions or expenses inside the venue.
Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

FLIGHTS
Confirmed flight information will be provided with your final documentation.
The indicated length of trip does not include time in flight and is subject to change depending on the final flight schedule.
This package includes domestic flights in Vietnam which will be booked on receipt of the second deposit. Domestic connecting flights will be subject to strict baggage limits. You are liable for any excess baggage fees.
Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination.

It is a condition of booking that you must always remain with the tour according to the prescribed program.
Departure from the group or deviation from the set itinerary are not permitted unless written prior consent is obtained, otherwise you risk cancellation of remaining land and air arrangements.

FEEDBACK POLICY
All efforts must be made to resolve issues on tour with the tour leader.
Complaints must be submitted in writing with substantiated evidence within 10 days of trip completion.

DIETARY
Please notify your guide of any special dietary requirements but note that choices may be limited or not catered for.

TRAVEL INSURANCE
Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.

FORCE MAJEURE
Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control.
In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, we reserve the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
