Day 1: Arrive Kota Kinabalu
Depart from Australia today, for Sabah, Malaysia. Note that some flights might be via Melbourne or Brisbane.
Upon arrival, a tour representative will meet you at the airport and escort you for check-in to the hotel. Note: Due to flight times and scheduling, some customers may be required to depart on the day before (day 0).

Day 2: Kota Kinabalu (B)
Take it easy this morning, with breakfast at the hotel and time to relax before touring Kota Kinabalu. Make a brief visit to Tanjung Lipat, with panoramic scenery of Gaya Island, South China Sea, Tun Mustapha Tower and the Kampung Likas village. See Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, recognized as one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia. Visit the Puh Toh Tze Buddhist temple and Sabah Museum before returning to the hotel to relax for the evening.

Day 3: Kota Kinabalu – Mari Mari Village Visit (B, L)
Drive to Mari-Mari Cultural Village after breakfast this morning. Visit traditional tribal houses to learn about ancient Sabah cultures and take part in some in-house activities. See a cultural performance and optionally shop for handicraft, take photos and enjoy the natural surroundings. For lunch experience delicious traditional Malaysian and fusion cuisine.
Please bring along drinking water bottle, insect repellent & hat.

Day 4: Kota Kinabalu – Gaya Island Day Tour (B, Packed Lunch)
After breakfast this morning, transfer to the jetty for the scheduled 30 minute boat transfer to Gaya island. Take a nature trek; learn about unique medicinal plants, tropical hardwood trees and Dipterocarp rainforest that covers the island. After the trek, enjoy your lunch (boxed by the hotel) at the beach before a swim and time to relax. Head back to the Kota Kinabalu hotel via the speed boat ferry at around 4pm.
Please bring along hat, insect repellent, swimwear and sun block lotion. Mask, snorkel, life jacket, towel, picnic boxed lunch are included.

Day 5: Kota Kinabalu – Poring Springs Day Tour (B, L)
Today, travel to the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu (1500m above sea level) with a short market stop to taste seasonal local fruits. Visit Kinabalu Natural History Gallery and Mountain Garden in Kinabalu Park Headquarters. If weather permits, take a guided walk on one of the cool mountain trails.
Continue to Poring. Explore tropical rainforest among the jungle trail leading to the treetop canopy walkways (excludes camera/video fee) suspended above the forest floor. Return to Kota Kinabalu for the evening.
Bring along drinking water bottle, insect repellent, hat, walking shoes & raincoat.

Day 6: Kota Kinabalu – Fly – Sandakan – Selingan Turtle Island (B, L, D)
Take the early flight across Sabah to Sandakan this morning. Transfer to the one hour boat ride to Selingan (Turtle) Island, dedicated as a conservation area since the 1970’s and one of the oldest turtle sanctuaries in the world. After checking into the simple, island-style chalets, the day is free to explore the island, rest, swim and snorkel.
After dinner in the cafeteria, await the Park Ranger’s signal before heading to the beach to observe an endangered Green Turtle as it makes its way up the beach to lay a full nest of eggs. After this incredible event, visitors are able to watch the nest being carefully transferred to the Island’s sanctuary, before concluding the evening with the chance to see new born hatchlings being transported to the sea.
Note: It is not possible to guarantee sightings of Green Turtles laying, however this island typically has at least 1 laying each night. All turtle observation activity is conducted in groups under the supervision of Rangers, with the needs of these animals given top priority. Flash photography is permitted, with a conservation charge of RMB10 per camera payable on the island.

Day 7 Selingan – Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre – Sukau Rainforest Lodge 135kms (B, L, D)
Return to Sandakan by boat and transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Learn about rehabilitation efforts and take the elevated boardwalks into the rainforest to witness feeding of the orang utans. Then continue to the completed enclosed nursery area, where you can observe young orang utans without disturbing the rehabilitation process.
Then, visit the next-door Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to look for and learn about conservation of the world’s smallest bear.
After lunch, transfer to Sandakan jetty for the boat journey to multi award-winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Travel Sabah’s longest river, Kinabatangan, with opportunity to view birds and wildlife. Enjoy candlelit dinner overlooking the riverbank, followed by a presentation and interpretation by local naturalist guide.

Day 8: Sukau Rainforest Lodge (B, L, D)
Take a peaceful early morning cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap Oxbow Lake to view birds and wildlife. After breakfast, experience an educational tour along the lodge’s Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. After lunch, join an Orang Utan Talk. In the afternoon, take another river cruise and look for more of Borneo’s remarkable wildlife.
Note: the river boats are equipped with outboard engines and an electric motor. With its clean and quiet operation, the electric motor will be turned on to manoeuvre the boat only during wildlife viewing (if location and river current permits). This maximises the wildlife experience without disturbing the peace and quiet of the natural surroundings.
Dinner included at the Lodge again tonight.

Day 9: Sukau Rainforest Lodge – Sandakan (B, L)
Start the day with an early morning river cruise along the Menanggol River in search of wildlife. In the late afternoon, take a scenic jungle drive and short boardwalk trail through the rainforest to Gomantong Cave. From the huge cave, witness the exodus of over two million bats and raptors before returning to Sukau Rainforest Lodge for the night.

Day 10: Depart Sandakan (B)
Conclude your time in Borneo today with a river boat and transfer to Sandakan airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu and home.Note due to flight departure time, some travellers may arrive home on Day 11.

This tour is suitable for accompanied children over the age of 10, who pay full fare.

A low deposit from $299 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit from $800 per person will be required 9 months prior to departure. Balance is due 5 months prior to departure.

The Peace of Mind Policy allows free of charge changes up to 90 months before departure, subject to airfare differences where flights have already been booked.
Each change within 90 days of departure: $100 per person plus applicable third-party supplier fees.
Each change within 60 days of departure: $250 per person plus applicable third-party supplier fees.

Cancellation more than 90 days before departure: Loss of deposit only.
Cancellation within 90 days of departure: 30% of package price.
Cancellation within 60 days of departure: 50% of package price.
Cancellation within 14 days of departure: 100% of package price.

A tourist visa can be acquired on arrival for Australian and some other nationalities travelling to Malaysian Borneo. It is your responsibility to check all requirements with your local consulate, embassy or visa centre.
Visa requirements may change due to Covid-safe requirements, it is each passengers responsibility to check all requirements prior to travel.

Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on tour, regardless of any other baggage allowance.
Porter service is not included and you are expected to carry your own bags.
Luggage and personal effects are your own risk and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure of the respective travel component.

The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed necessary for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation of the tour.
If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, similar alternatives will be provided where possible.
The indicated length of trip includes time in flight and is subject to change depending on the final flight schedule.
Included admissions provide general entrance to the attraction and do not include secondary admissions or expenses inside the venue.
Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

Triple share in the form of extra bedding can be requested for children sharing with adults, strictly subject to limited availability. There is no discount for triple share.

Minimum 9 passengers required to operate, maximum 24 passengers per vehicle.

It is a condition of booking that you must always remain with the tour according to the prescribed program.
Departure from the group or deviation from the set itinerary are not permitted unless written prior consent is obtained, otherwise you risk cancellation of remaining land and air arrangements.

Flights are booked approximately 9 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination.

All efforts must be made to resolve issues on tour with the tour leader.
Complaints must be submitted in writing with substantiated evidence within 10 days of trip completion.

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control.
In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, we reserve the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
