About the Resort

Rawnsley Park Station is a 7000-acre sheep property on the southern edge of Wilpena Pound that adjoins the Flinders Ranges National Park. The station was named after Rawnsley Bluff, the prominent mountain in the southern rim of the Pound. It is not far from the well-known Wilpena Pound area and central to many other amazing locations in the Flinders Ranges. Rawnsley Park Station provides the perfect base for exploring the area.

There is accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets from standard cabins, holiday units, a caravan park, a bunkhouse to the ultra-luxurious eco villas. There is a licensed restaurant serving country style food, a swimming pool and general store. Guests can also stay in a renovated traditional homestead with private swimming pool and outdoor shower. The nearest service town to Rawnsley Park Station is Hawker, located approximately 30 kms south Four-wheel drive tours, scenic flights and mountain bike hire is all available from Rawnsley Park Station. There is a network of excellent bushwalking trails, suitable for beginners through to experienced walkers, located on the property.

The Woolshed Restaurant offers modern Australian cuisine, such as marinated kangaroo fillet, steaks and gourmet pizzas. There is also a wide selection of South Australian wines and local and imported beers.

Resort Location

Rawnsley Park Station is about 430 kilometres and five hours north of Adelaide. It is a great base to explore the area. Wilpena Pond, Brachina and Parachilna Gorge and Blinman are all nearby. The nearest service town to Rawnsley Park Station is Hawker, located approximately 30-kilometres south. Here you’ll find a good general store (with ATM facilities), galleries, several pubs and cafes, a petrol station, visitor information and public conveniences.

Things To Do

You can get a great feel for the Flinders Ranges without leaving Rawnsley Park Station. From bike rides and walks to self-drive tours and scenic flights, there are plenty of ways to explore the area. Enjoy the wildlife and spend hours birdwatching, from parrots, galahs, honeyeaters, noisy-miner birds, wedge-tailed eagles are just some of the many birds you can view here. Rawnsley Park has several marked walking trails for bushwalkers. Climb Rawnsley Bluff (approx. 4 hours return) or enjoy one of the shorter walks. Maps are available from the office. You can also book guided walking tours.

The Flinders Ranges National Park with its natural attractions is within easy reach. You can either explore the NP on your own or join one of the various tours the station offers. Scenic drives include Bunyeroo Valley, Brachina Gorge, Aroona Valley and Aroona Homestead. Continue to Blinman, an old mining town. Take the route through Parachilna Gorge back. Don’t forget to stop at Parachilna for a superb lunch.

Some amazing scenery locations include Stokes lookout and Station Hill lookout. Both are good spots to take some awesome photos of the surrounding mountain ranges. Chase Range and Wilpena Pound – the red iron-oxide sandstone glows in the setting sun, while the peaks of the Elder Range are best viewed in the early morning sun.
